Foster home

What is it about?

Many of our dogs have been waiting a very long time in the shelter for their chance to be taken in by a family in Germany. Among so many dogs, some treasures simply don't stand out. Such dogs need help from a foster home so that year after year does not pass before they are finally discovered. Our foster homes are also often rescuers in times of need, when dogs can be saved from the killing centre. Because the capacities on site in our partner animal shelters are limited.

What does this mean for me?

The work of a foster home is not easy. You usually open not only your door, but also your heart to a dog's soul. Sometimes it's hard to say goodbye That is why we are grateful that there are always people who offer our dogs this unique chance.

We are always looking for such special people who are willing to take care of a dog responsibly until it has found its forever home. Of course, we are always there should any unforeseen problems arise - we are always ready to help and advise. Nevertheless, it would of course be an advantage if the foster parents already had dog experience, so that everything can run more smoothly.

Conditions & procedure

In order to work as closely as possible with the foster homes, we welcome new foster homes in the areas of Freiburg i. Br., Black Forest, Reutlingen, Tübingen, Cologne, Hanover, Leipzig and Greiz/Vogtland. In all other places, you are of course welcome to ask if there are any current changes.

Unfortunately, however, we cannot make any compensation payments for accommodation or vets, because our animal welfare association has made it its business to give the lion's share of the money from a placement to the local animal welfare organisations, so that they can continue to help other dogs, which we are then allowed to place again. For this reason, we cannot pay a daily rate for foster care, for example, and would have to pay everything out of our private budget if any costs were to come our way.

We therefore appeal to animal lovers who are not able to take in a dog permanently (any more), but would still like to help out temporarily.

Transport from abroad to southern Germany will be arranged in any case.
The dogs are all chipped, sufficiently vaccinated, vet checked and for the most part already neutered.

All dogs from the age of 10 months will be subjected to a major blood test because of Mediterranean diseases.
