Al-Bayyasa Animal Association

The Al-Bayyasa Animal Welfare Association, based in Baeza (Jaén), is located in Andalusia and was founded as a nonprofit organization. Its sole purpose is to rescue and care for abandoned and abused dogs in the region.

Every day, we work to ensure that many dogs can live with dignity, providing them with food and care. We currently care for over 170 homeless dogs. We often find many of them severely malnourished, with broken bones caused by abuse or the circumstances of their abandonment—and many have also been hit by cars. And even though they’ve been through so much, these dogs still place their trust in us and are grateful for every pat and every bit of care. That’s exactly what gives us strength and motivates us to continue this difficult fight against animal abandonment in Spain.

We need help and support to keep the shelter running and ensure our animals have a dignified life. To make all of this happen, we need volunteers to help with cleaning, preparing food, brushing the dogs, taking them to the vet, and preparing for adoptions.

We also need financial support to cover the shelter’s expenses. Mª Teresa, the association’s president, struggles to cover these costs month after month. We need members so that our dogs don’t go hungry (our food is being stolen!) and don’t get sick, because we often can’t afford medical treatment due to a lack of funds.
